SBR Jobs · Mission Critical Recruiting · Electrical Project Managers · 2026

SBR Jobs recruits electrical project managers, senior project managers and electrical project executives for the electrical contractors, general contractors and owners building hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centers. Direct-hire search only, in California and wherever your data center program runs. Recruiting construction leadership since 1997.

Electrical is the critical path on a data center

On most data centers the electrical scope is the largest single package on the job: medium voltage switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, busway, PDUs and the power monitoring that ties them together, often with a utility substation and interconnect running in parallel. The electrical project manager carries that package, its long lead equipment and a large share of the craft labor on site.

That is why the people who have run electrical on a hyperscale build are among the most recruited managers in construction. They are employed, usually on multi year programs, and they are not answering job postings. We reach them directly and confidentially.

What a data center electrical project manager owns

Long lead equipment

Buying, expediting and tracking generators, switchgear, transformers and UPS, where one late delivery moves the whole schedule.

Medium voltage and utility scope

Coordination with the utility and the substation work, medium voltage distribution and energization sequencing.

Manpower and craft labor

Planning and staffing large electrical crews and their field leadership, often across several data halls at once.

Cost, change and buyout

Budget, change orders, vendor and lower tier buyout, and monthly forecasting to the owner or the GC.

Commissioning support

Getting systems ready for Level 3 through Level 5 testing and closing out issues with the commissioning team.

Safety and energized work

NFPA 70E programs, lockout and tagout, and safe work around energized equipment on phased, partially live campuses.

Who we recruit electrical leaders for

Electrical contractors with mission critical divisions, general contractors that manage electrical scope directly, and owner and developer construction teams. We recruit for programs in Silicon Valley and Santa Clara, the Sacramento region, Reno and Northern Nevada, Southern California, and other West Coast and national markets. California electrical contractors work under a C-10 license, and we screen for candidates who know California code and inspection practice when the job is here.

How an SBR electrical search runs

  1. Intake with the hiring leader

The seat, the program it will carry, the scope, the owner, the team it joins and the culture it has to fit. We push back when the title, the scope and the pay do not line up.
  2. Market map

Every builder, electrical and mechanical contractor, commissioning firm and owner team that has delivered similar mission critical work, and the people inside them who actually ran it.
  3. Confidential outreach

Direct, discreet conversations with employed leaders, most of whom are not looking and never apply to postings.
  4. Screened short list

Candidates vetted on the programs they delivered, field references and culture fit, each with notes on why they fit your seat and what it will take to move them.
  5. Offer and start

We manage the offer and the counteroffer, keep both sides informed, and report weekly until your hire is on site.

What data center electrical leaders earn

Electrical leaders with hyperscale experience are paid at the top of construction management, and counteroffers are routine. See current ranges on our data center recruiting page and in the 2026 California construction salary guide.
