Land acquisition, land development, forward planning, purchasing, construction and finance leaders: California homebuilders are paying more for your experience than at any point in the last decade, and the best seats never reach a job board. SBR Jobs connects proven homebuilding professionals with production and custom builders across California. Confidential, direct hire, and always free for candidates.
Your experience is worth more than it was two years ago
Land Acquisition, Forward Planning and Land Development compensation is up 20 to 30 percent or more since 2024. Controller and CFO-track roles are up 30 percent as the last generation of finance leaders retires. Superintendents, Construction Managers and Area Construction Managers are moving 8 to 15 percent a year. If you have not had a market read since 2024, you are working off an old number.
We recruit for public and private builders, master-planned community developers, build-to-rent operators and active adult builders in Sacramento, the Central Valley, the Bay Area and statewide. Most of the people we place were not looking. They took one confidential call.

How it works
A confidential conversation
One call. Where you have been, what you want next, what you are worth in this market. Nothing moves without your say-so, and your resume is never blasted anywhere. An honest market read
We tell you where you actually stand: which builders would fight for you, what comp to expect, and what would make you more valuable, even if the answer is stay where you are and ask for the number you deserve.Introductions on your terms
When there is a real fit, we introduce you directly to the decision maker, prep you for every conversation, and handle the offer and the resignation so the move actually happens.
Why builders take our calls
Since 1997
Almost three decades of homebuilder leadership recruiting in California. The builders hiring for these seats already know us.
Confidential by default
Most of the people we place were not openly looking. Your current employer never hears from us. Period.
We know your work
You will talk to someone who knows the difference between a lot takedown and a land bank, and between a forward planner and an entitlement PM, so your experience gets represented right.
Free, always
The hiring company pays our fee. You never pay anything, and our incentive is a placement that lasts.
Frequently Asked Questions
I am not actively looking. Should I still talk to you?
That is exactly when to talk. Most of our best placements started as a market check a year or two before the move. Knowing your number costs you nothing and makes every decision better, including the decision to stay.
Is it really confidential?
Yes. Nothing is shared with anyone without your explicit go-ahead, and we never post or blast your resume. Discretion is the whole reason passive candidates work with us.
I come from civil engineering, land brokerage or a general contractor. Can I move into homebuilding?
Often, yes. Builders hire land analysts and forward planners out of civil and brokerage, and construction managers out of GCs, when the fundamentals are strong. We will tell you honestly which seats are realistic and what would close the gap.
Which markets do you place people in?
Sacramento and the foothills, the Central Valley from Stockton to Bakersfield, the Bay Area and East Bay, and statewide for division and corporate roles. We also bring homebuilding leaders into California from other markets.
What does it cost me?
Nothing, ever. The hiring company pays the fee on every placement.
