SBR Jobs recruits superintendents, general superintendents and MEP superintendents for the general contractors, electrical and mechanical contractors and owners building hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centers. Direct-hire search only, in California and wherever your data center program runs. Recruiting construction leadership since 1997.
A data center superintendent runs a small city
A hyperscale build can put thousands of workers on one site. The superintendent sequences the shell, underground, MEP rough in, equipment setting and phased turnover of data halls while commissioning runs in parallel and parts of the campus may already be live. Logistics, safety and trade stacking decide whether the schedule holds.
MEP superintendents carry the most technical part of that work: electrical distribution, generators and UPS, chilled water plants, air and liquid cooling, fire protection and the controls that tie them together. People who have done it on a live campus are scarce, and most of them are booked. We find them directly and confidentially.

What we screen for
Scale
The data halls, megawatts and headcount they actually ran, not just the size of the company they worked for.
Phased turnover
Experience turning over halls in sequence while construction continues around live space.
MEP depth
For MEP superintendents: electrical distribution, generators and UPS, chilled water and cooling, fire protection and controls.
Commissioning readiness
How they prepared systems for Level 3 through Level 5 testing and drove the issues log to zero.
Safety leadership
Energized work practices, crane and rigging plans, and a clean safety record on large crews.
Owner relationships
Comfort working with hyperscale and colocation owners, their representatives and their schedules.
Where we recruit data center superintendents
Silicon Valley and Santa Clara, the Sacramento region, Reno and Northern Nevada, Southern California, and other West Coast and national markets, including relocations for multi year programs. For Bay Area specifics, see our guide to hiring a data center project manager and superintendent in the Bay Area.
How an SBR superintendent search runs
Intake with the hiring leader
The seat, the program it will carry, the scope, the owner, the team it joins and the culture it has to fit. We push back when the title, the scope and the pay do not line up.Market map
Every builder, electrical and mechanical contractor, commissioning firm and owner team that has delivered similar mission critical work, and the people inside them who actually ran it.Confidential outreach
Direct, discreet conversations with employed leaders, most of whom are not looking and never apply to postings.Screened short list
Candidates vetted on the programs they delivered, field references and culture fit, each with notes on why they fit your seat and what it will take to move them.Offer and start
We manage the offer and the counteroffer, keep both sides informed, and report weekly until your hire is on site.
What data center superintendents earn
Superintendent pay on mission critical work usually carries a premium over commercial building, and per diem and relocation are often part of the package. See current ranges on our data center recruiting page and in the 2026 California construction salary guide.
